Tried these two Fri night w/ leftover Borscht from Roman:
1. BrocCllrs LoveWhite SolanoCnty/GreenVlly Calif WW (11.5%; 90% CheninBlanc/10% Chard; Stockinger Austrian Oak Puncheons) Berkeley 2019: Light gold rather cloudy color; rather pretty/CB/pear slight chalky/earthy pleasant/simple nose; bit soft near dry fruity/CB/pear/bit floral slight chalky/earthy/tutti-fruity simple flavor; med.long light pear/CB/fruity slight chalky finish; a pleasant simple tutti-fruity CB but just that. $20.00 (AV)
2. Domaine de Majas Blanc IGP: Cotes Catalanes WW (12%; LouisDressnerSlctns;; 8 mo. in SS; 45% Macabeu/45% Rolle/10% CarignaneBlanc) Agnes et Alaine Carrere avec TomLubbe/Caudies de Fenoulledes 2018: Med/gold color; rather fragrant/appley/pear/bit floral/Vermen some earthy/perfumed talc bit rustic rather Rhonish interesting nose; fairly tart/tangy/bit citric bit lean light floral/carnations/Vermen/appley slightly off-dry some earthy/rustic flavor; long light floral/Vermen some earthy/stony/perfumed talc finish; resembles a lot of Vermentino of Liguria or Favorita of Piemonte; a pleasant/interesting white but just that. $22.00 (AV)
A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Whatta surprise...two natural wines that are clean & well-made. Chris Brockway shows that you can make natural wines that don't have to be funky/natty. Never had a wine of his that I thought was such.
