Lockdown Wine #76. To give the full name: Dal Forno Romano Valpolicella Superiore Vigneto di Monte Lodoletta. Very dark, opaque, with just the slightest hint of brown at the edge. Spicy, peppery nose. 14% alcohol but no heat. Ripe black fruit and a touch of creamy oak. Not as sweet as I expected. The fruit is definitely ripe but is not at all jammy. Plum, fig, and a little coffee. Tannins already quite soft. Good length and a dryish finish. The sense I get is that it's near peak but not quite there yet. Still, a very attractive wine now. Nice with spicy pasta Arrabiata and pepperoni pizza.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
