2018 Vincent Chardonnay Tardive - USA, Oregon, Willamette Valley (12/11/2020)
Really interesting Chardonnay that has a crystalline purity, but also a strong struck flint note. The fruit almost seems sweet, but then on the finish the acidity rushes in to leave a dry, steely tone. This is a remarkable value.

Based on the name, I assume this is a late harvest wine, fermented dry. Oregon has a cooler climate than California, but I can still believe that plummeting acidity was a problem for the winemaker. IIRC acidification is allowed in Oregon, and it wouldn't surprise me if it was needed here. That might explain the acidity rush at the end.

I actually know that he did not acidity. And late for a Vincent is not all that late.
