WTN: Isole e Olena Cepparello Toscana IGT 2006

Lockdown Wine #71. Fairly dark and opaque, with a very slight bricking at the rim. Ripe black fruit. Plum, cherry, floral. Very attractive on the nose. Sweet and ripe again on the palate. Good acidity for backbone. "Bright" coffee, as the coffee people say. Not really a style of coffee I like, but it works in this wine to balance the sweetness. New Worldy in a good way - rich but not cloying. The acid ever present to balance things out. Juicy and easy to drink. Popped and poured but excellent right out of the bottle. Not much change after an hour in the glass; maybe the tannins firmed up a bit, but still very approachable now. Good length. Somewhat meaty at the finish. There's also a sweet fruit note I can't quite make out. Jam of some sort. Very good drinking now, but still fruit driven. Can only get better with age. Excellent.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Still a decent value in the “super Tuscan” group.
