2019 Desire Lines Carignan Evangelho - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Contra Costa County (11/22/2020)
Normally when I grab a bottle of Evangelho I am thinking Zin blend or Mourvedre. A Carignan dominated (approx 90%) version is a different expression, but still shows it's from Evangelho. Crisp red fruit and crunch herbs show the dominant variety, and a deeper sappiness to the fruit shows the site. With air a darker black fruit note comes through, and the herbs warm as the Mourevedre (approx 10%) makes its presence known. Fresh and easy to drink now, it has more than enough depth for several years of cellaring - maybe letting the Mourvedre beast bring a little more wildness to the mix.
