2019 Division Winemaking Company Gamay Noir Division-Villages, "Les Petits Fers" - USA, Oregon (11/19/2020)
It’s Beaujolais Nouveau day today, but I would rather have a regular Gamay. Division it is. New release that just landed at Schloss Bueker in October, but it’s already open, aromatic and easy to drink. Overall this feels a little more Loire-esque than Beaujolais to me, but just the same it’s about fruit with all sorts of seasonings, from tobacco, to roasted meat and on to crushed herbs blended with chalk. Smelling it was a joy. That’s the sign of an enlivening wine, when just a sniff makes me smile.

I’m still smiling.
