Thanks for posting this, Tom. I've always supposed there would be vines in Marin County- like nearly all of California's countys - but never heard of any wineries there.

Jason Haggen, who posts here, highly recommends the Pey-Marin pinots. I bought a few and look forward to tasting them.

Yea, funny, but when you think about it, it's only an imaginary dividing line, set up by some surveyor, that distinguishes Sonoma from Marin counties. There are some good, cold climate PN vineyards around there, but the area has never been developed viticulturally to the extent that Sonoma has. It's still cattle grazing, dairy farms and preservation lands mostly. Good for cheese and olive oil oil too (Cowgirl, Marin Cheese Co., and McEvoy OO).

Further inland the great number of hot tubs changes the climate so drastically that it is too warm for grapes to grow.
