WTN: A Little Pomerol

2014 Le Petit Enclos I need to drink more Pomerol. This, the second wine from Enclos was quite impressive. The nose had obvious notes of aromatic pipe tobacco with some red fruit in the background. The palate continued the nose with more tobacco and deeper red fruit, (sour cherry) and good acidity. The tannins were surprisingly resolved but with enough presence to provide balance. Drink em up if you have them. abv 13%

I also yesterday opened a 2016 Domaine de la Vieille Julienne "les Trois Sources" Chateauneuf-du-Pape. This wine needed a LOT of decant time which it did not get. Black in color with muted black fruit on the nose at first with some iron and heavy mineral notes, the palate followed the nose but with even more complex non-fruit notes I don't recall ever seeing in CnP.
My next opening of this wine will get plenty of decanting, maybe 10-12 hours. Over a couple hours it did settle down but was still killing a baby. abv 15%
