- 2016 Bevan Cellars Ontogeny - USA, California, Napa Valley, Oakville (11/12/2020)
I opened a bottle of this right after it was released. It was almost too intense. Flash forward two years, and it’s still a powerful wine, but it sings with a classy cool. Robust fruit and suave tannins, it’s a warm massage in a glass. Pair it with some red meat, and ignore the rest of the world for a few hours. This is my pick for the best “value” in high end Napa red wine.

Odd name for a wine but it sure brings back memories. "Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny" was a password in my undergrad years (biology/genetics).
