Just catching up on some great wines during current lockdown here in AB.
Four of us plus new baby had a terrific Peking Duck dinner. Wine star was the 2012 J.J. Prum Graacher Himmelreicht Riesling Spatlese which is still available downtown. Only 9% alc, and way too easy to drink as still youthful. Pear apple on the nose with enhanced mineral tones. Lemon, citrus, minerality on the palate. Very intense aftertaste, stony-lime, drinks dryish for a spatlese.
Been sitting on this Scheurebe for a while, 2014 Muller-Catoir Haardter Scheurebe, Pfalz. I wondered if past its peak on opening but turned out nicely. Powerful aroma of grapefruit, not grassy though. White flowers and stonefruit, "lemon and lime" from across the table.
This red was of interest with beef stew. Cellared 3/4 yrs..2014 Domaine Boucabeille Cotes du Roussillon Villages. Cherry and red fruits on the nose, blackberry, blackcurrant and pepper finish. Good length but low acidity I thought.

2012 Prum is just fantastic, no matter which wine.
