Lockdown Wine #61. A bit of a struggle with the cork, so I had to use the Durand. Popped and poured. Appropriate dark brick color for its age, although it is still pretty opaque at the center. Ripe dark fruit, a bit of wood, dried herbs, quite earthy. Sweet fruit, quite rich, soft, juicy, ground coffee, bittersweet chocolate. Just medium length, though. So easy to drink. Had to force myself to leave some to make this note, although I poured off half the bottle to drink with dinner tomorrow. Went beautifully with steak tartare and Beef Wellington. For me, at peak now. Outstanding.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
