WTN: The Daëne

2001 Château Doisy-Daëne - France, Bordeaux, Sauternais, Sauternes (10/20/2020)
Consumed over two nights, with the first night being in isolation, and the second being an unusual food challenge, Panang Curry. On its own there was the usual vanilla tinged botrytis spice, medium body, and a long finish which is where the wine really shone. With the curry it acted very much like a German Gold Capsule Auslese, balancing the heat and salt of the curry against its rich sweetness. I wish I had saved a couple of sips to taste later the second night, but from half bottle it was gone too soon. A very nice 2001 Barsac, but not a challenger for the big guns of the vintage.

Interesting pairing. Never thought to pair a Sauternes/BA etc. with curry. I'll give that a try
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
