1994 Vintage Porto, Taylor

I figured that at 26 years past the vintage, it was worth opening one of these to see how it is coming along. Big mistake. One-word summary: infanticide. The color is deep, opaque purple-black. Very reticent dark fruit aromas. On the palate, it's like listening to a stereo with the bass and treble balance knobs turned all the way up. The finish is fiercely sucking-on-a-used-teabag tannic, as if the wine is saying, "you opened me too soon and I'm going to make you pay for it." Triple Moe with an extra "oh, a wise guy, huh?"

This will be a monumental vintage Port once it's mature, but I doubt that will be before another ten years.
