More scrapplesnort from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Some of these were from the last VINSider shipment, some from my archives, and some were sent to us to try
by Jason that are not yet released. He is very high on the TCV '19 vintage and I would tend to agree from what
we tasted. The '19's all had more intensity & perfume than the '18's.
The TCV VINSider club is one of the few wine clubs I continue with. Across the board, the wines are not
only good, but are very fairly priced. They typically offer 1-2 different wines as a monthly special that is
deeply discounted. And if you happen to catch something really good on one of their occasional free or $5
shipping months, my group usually backs up the truck.

2. Picpoul/Picardin/ClairetteBlanche/Bourboulenc: Which to choose? TCV has brought in pretty much all the varieties
now of the RhoneVlly. They are all interesting varieties and fun to taste side-by-side. Of these minor varieties,
I've not found one that is particularly distinctive or blows me away. There's a reason that Viog/GB/Rouss/Marsanne
are regarded as the noble varieties of the Rhone and the others play a minor role. Still, I'm glad that TCV has
brought them in and until you try them, you'll never know how they will perform in Calif terroir. They probably
bring more to the table when used in the WhiteRhone blends, but the effect is probably to subtle for my
klutzy palate.
Of the TCV WhiteRhone blends, the Patelin/Cotes de Tablas/Esprit are all a notch above the lower ones. The
Esprit is their flagship Blanc and for a reason. It ages incredibly well. Still, the lower blends are quite good
and neither of them seems to be a kitchen-sink blend and they are well assembled. And very reasonably priced. TCV
certainly knows what they're doing and one of the best producers in Paso.

3. The new TCV VINSider shipment has arrived and we'll taste a few more new ones in a week or so that was not
included in this tasting.

Got 2018 Viognier, 2017 Mourvedre. This spring bought Patelin Rose' 2019, Cotes de Tablas 2017, Grenache Blanc 2018.

Your input is always helpful. Thanks!

I would be very interested to hunt down the Bourboulenc. I do not know if I've ever had it on it's own, but I have found over the years that Rhone whites with between 10%-40% Bourboulenc always seem to be my favorite. I often do not love White Rhone wines, but more often then not when I try one that I really like it always has the grape in the blend...

Thank you for posting your notes, always informative to read

In addition to Tablas Creek, this Lodi vintner offers Bourbolenc. Happy Shopping!
