1. von Hovel Riesling Saar Kabinett (QmP; A.P.Nr. 3525781-07-18; 8.0%; SchatziWines/Milan/NY) 2017: Med.yellow color w/ some small bubbles; lovely flinty/Saar/steely some Mosel valve oil some fragrant R/floral/mango bit complex classic Saar nose; quite tart/tangy some flinty/steely/mineral/bit perfumed talc light Mosel valve oil fairly strong R/floral/mango off-dry (1.0% r.s.?) classic Saar some rich/lush flavor; very long/lingering fairly tart bit rich/off-dry some flinty/steely/slatey/Mosel valve oil some floral/R/mango bit complex finish; a beautiful classic Saar R at a great price; will put on weight and improve for at least 10 yrs. $17.50 (KK)

Bergstrom Chard OldStones WillametteVlly (13.3%; www.BergstromWines.com) Josh&John Bergstrom/Newberg/OR 2017: Med.gold color; rather melony/Chard/celery seed bit herbal slight stony/earthy very light pencilly/oak somewhat understated/restrained attractive nose; fairly tart/tangy rather strong melony/Chard/spicy/herbal/celery seed light stony/earthy light pencilly/oak rather restrained/low-key quite pleasant flavor; very long/lingering melony/herbal/celery seed light pencilly/oak finish; a rather understated quite pleasant OR Chard. $31.00 (KK)

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I don't have a lot of experience w/ OR Chards. A few I've had I thought rather over-oaked. This one was not and quite a pleasant/interesting expression of Chard that's distinctly not Calif Chard.
