Tried these two last night:
1. Terre Bianche DOC: Rossese di Dolceacqua (13%; Bottiglia #6088; GoldenStateWineCo/VanNuys;
www.TerreBianche.com) Rondelli Filippo e Laconi Nicola 2014: Med.light color w/ some bricking; deeper less fragrant/frivolous more serious blackberry/strawberry/very Zin-like light toasty/oak lighter earthy/dusty much more complex quite attractive nose; fairly tart/tangy deeper more blackberry/raspberry/Zin-like light earthy/dusty some complex flavor w/light slightly tangy tannins; very long some tart/tangy fairly fragrant /blackberry/raspberry/Zin-like light pencilly/oak bit earthy/dusty some complex finish w/ light tannins; quite a lovely Rossese that reminds some of a lighter Bedrock Zin; probably as good as it's gonna get. $28.00 (Prima)

Nicola 2017: Med.light color; quite fragrant floral/rose petal/raspberry/quite spicy slight earthy/dusty lovely perfumed nose; quite tart/tangy/metallic bit acidic/citric strong floral/rose petal/raspberry/violets bit earthy/dusty flavor w/ some tart/tangy tannins; very long quite tart/tangy bright/raspberry/rose petal/floral rather angular/sharp bit earthy finish w/ some tangy tannins; rather hard & tangy & needs a few yrs to soften the tannins before the fruit starts to fade; the DryCreekVlly Zin of Liguria; pretty classic Rossese. $29.00 (BWC)

1. Rossese di Dolceacqua: Also known in Provence as Tibouren. Uncertain origins but probably in Provence and migrated into Liguria. No DNA data to indicate its parentage. There are a bunch of bianco versions of Rossese as well.
This was an interesting comparison. The '17 had a lot more bright/frivolous raspberry fruit to it & more like a DryCreekVlly Zin in character. The '14 was deeper/more complex and more like a RRV Zin in character, not as bright/perfumed. On the palate, the '17 shows a lot of sharp/spikey tannins whilst the tannins are pretty much fully resolved in the '14, though it still has plenty of Rossese perfume to it.
