2016 Schaefer-Frohlich Spatburgunder Blanc de Noir Trocken,

by JC (NC) » Wed Sep 30, 2020 3:27 pm

Nahe, Germany. From Pinot Noir grapes. Labeled as 12% abv. Pale apricot color with clarity. The taste is slightly yeasty with some crisp apple notes and a whisper of ginger. It is quite acidic and has a rather lengthy finish. I see it as an interesting variation on blanc de noir. I gave it 87 to 88 points in my mind but don't have a lot of comparisons for a fair rating so chose not to put a rating number on CellarTracker. I liked it. John Gilman awarded it 89 points.

Enjoyed a S-F 2013 Riesling, Nahe, last year. Most decent, <$22, what's not to like?

Will keep an eye out for local offerings. Our LWS may feature again.
