In that this wine clearly evolved.
Domenico Amador County, Super Tuscan Style, 2012. Per label: Sangiovese 75%, Primitivo 12.5%, Syrah 12.5%. Day 1, distinct aromas of cherry: black, sour, just cherry, all 3. Followed by red raspberry, clove. On the palate, meat and a bit of smoke joined in. Day 2, red fruits remained, but eucalyptus aromas became apparent, too. And on the palate, the meat, smoke strengthened and just a hint of leather as well. The finish was long and texture polished/smooth. These differences added to complexity and made the experience fun. At $32 with tax & shipping, QPR is average.
We first experienced Domenico wines a few years ago when I still belonged to a wine club. One of their selections was the Aglianico which became our WOTY. Just fabulous with steak au poivre. Do I contacted the winery and bought a mixed half-case. All that remains is 2 bottles of Aglianico, also 2012. Like so many wines over the years, a decent purchase.
