Cab Franc from Finger Lakes NY.

by Bob Parsons Alberta » Fri Sep 18, 2020 9:37 pm

Many here know I am a big Fox Run fan..their rieslings and cab franc. I do hear that they turn out a nice Lemberger too.

2015 Fox Run Vineyards Cabernet Franc, NY Finger Lakes.

Good color and an appealing nose with dark reddish berries. After an hour opened up with some spice, green bell peppers. "Herbs and earth" from across the table.
Initial entry thought is dry, soft tannins, medium bodied. Quite a meaty tone about this one, good length. One bottle left in the cellar.

I don’t know Fox Run. Some other are doing good things with Cab Franc though. Seems like the right red for the region.

Bob, have you visited the Finger Lakes or are those wines coming into your region? Sounds like you've had multiple experiences with this winery.

Never visited the winery or the area. Found a FR CB years ago and have been buying ever since. Needs some tracking down!

Well it's cool that they're getting into Alberta. We virtually never see FL wines out west down here. (Understandable in that we have a large wine industry ourselves, but still.)
