WTN: Bob + Rog

2013 Roberts + Rodgers Napa Cabernet Louer Vyd. My only bottle and I was hoping it had matured some. Wrong! This Cab. was quite tannic and full bodied with black fruit but no evolution or secondary flavors. For those of you out there with some of their Cabernets.........give them time. If I had more I would not open another for 8-10 years. abv of %15.4

I also recently had a 2013 Paon Napa Valley Mt. Veeder Cabernet that was fabulous with black fruit and lots of spice. Not fully mature but getting there. Hope I have more. abv do not remember.

Both producers I haven't heard of, which I realize is a useless comment for you. It's just that there are so many now, I can't keep track and rarely buy any more. Still generally prefer California to Washington when it comes to new world cabernet, but I live in Washington now.

As far as new world Cabernet goes, I agree but Wash. Syrah can be unbeatable. I buy most of my wine off the internet with a bit from Ft. Wayne (since I'm up there frequently) and a smattering from Cincinnati (Party Source) and Indianapolis.

I agree; we've got a lock on syrah. In fact I moved here not liking American syrah much at all, but Washington's breadth in that arena particularly with Northern Rhone influences have changed me.

Some/many Washington Syrah beat out all but top shelf Northern Rhones. Rotie Cellars Northern Blend comes to mind. yummm!

Agreed, love Rotie though they suffer for being near-term wines instead of long-terms holds (under 5 years vs. maybe under 10). And then there's Reynvaan, Cayuse, Delmas and a few others at the top of the heap with II Vintners and many others on their heels.
