2004 Reichsrat Von Buhl Forster Jesuitengarten Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Pfalz (9/10/2020)
Back many years ago I had a chance to buy some of this wine. I bought two bottles. Foolish. Turns out it became a unicorn, as von Buhl basically stopped making it, and turned to only dry wines from the Jesuitengarten. At age sixteen it’s a budding masterpiece, but sadly my last bottle. $27 of rich, peach goodness, with honey, cardamom spice, and a finishing kick of salty acidity. It could have aged and profited for fifteen or twenty more years, but it made for a lovely dinner with our homemade chicken and bok choy with spicy brown sauce.
