WTN: Egon Müller Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett 2012

by Jay Labrador » Sun Aug 30, 2020 1:29 am

Lockdown Wine #54. From a half bottle. Pale gold with a touch of green. Citrussy, lemon/lime/orange. A little bitter rind. On the dryish end of the spectrum. Very slight prickle of gas. Acid keeps everything fresh. Decent length. Very enjoyable at lunch on a cool but rather humid day.

Lovely wine every year, but the prices have gotten crazy!

Yes, the only time I buy this is when it's included in bin-end sales.

I cannot fathom Egon Muller in a bin-end sale. Have not seen that here since the 1990s.

It doesn't happen often, but it does happen! Riesling/German wine isn't too popular here, which is weird since it's the perfect wine for our weather.

My very favorite Scharzhofberger producer. But I haven't had any in years because of the prices.
