WTN: Dönhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Spätlese 2007

Lockdown Wine #53. Medium gold. Honey and almost overripe tropical fruit nose. Orange marmalade, fresh orange, peach, mango, brown sugar, baked apple Medium weight. Crisp apple skins on the finish mixed in with marmalade. Juicy. Good, but not exceptional, length. Sweet, but appropriate to a Spätlese, and well balanced by the acidity. Easy to drink. Great stuff!

Love that wine. 2007 is generally showing well now as a vintage.

Opened it tonight. Stellar. Wife loved it as well, which is the best endorsement.

2007 Dönnhoff Oberhäuser Brücke Riesling Spätlese - Germany, Nahe (8/30/2020)
My last bottle from this vintage, and thankfully a good showing after a decidedly lackluster one three years ago. It’s still not a wine for acid freaks, but it is finely balanced now that some of the youthful fat has backed away. Ripe peaches and pineapple are layered over river rocks and iron filings, creating a solid core that fades to an ethereal finish. I wish it had a little more zip, but with a spicy green curry it was a lovely drink.
