Lockdown Wine #49. Judging by some comments on CellarTracker, this didn't age too well, so better to open sooner than later and make more space. Brown along the edge, but I think appropriate for its age. Smells rather nice. Maybe some overripe fruit, but not a lot; some earth notes that come and go. Prune. Sweet, rich, bordering on jammy but not quite there. Blueberry and plum. Smoke, earth again that comes and goes. It's nearly all fruit except at the very end where it turns pretty dry and ashy. Good length, but the flavors on the finish aren't that great. It's not a bad wine at all, although the style won't be to everyone's taste. This certainly reflects the heat of the vintage. Could possibly become more interesting with a couple of years to soften the tannins and develop flavors beyond the fruit.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
