WTN: Asili, feel me, touch me, heal me

2007 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco Riserva Asili - Italy, Piedmont, Langhe, Barbaresco (8/11/2020)
Opened to celebrate the memory of a dear friend who loved Italian wines, and Nebbiolo most of all.

Despite all rumors of Produttori wines maturing faster than they used to, or 2007 being an earlier drinking vintage, this one still needs more time. It certainly has some pleasure to give, as it is not completely closed down. There's still quite a lot of dark fruit, and there are floral notes dancing around the edges. Just not a lot of development yet, except for the tannins calming down a bit. It's not a forbidding drink at this point, nor is it happy that you decided to visit. Call it a weekend with the in-laws at this point.

Sounds very promising! Thanks for the early note.

I've been dying to do verticals of the Produttori wines (I have a half dozen vintages of asili for instance) but have been stopped by not wanting to pop corks before the wines are really ready to drink.. You are performing a public service! I shall restrict any verticals to wines from the last millenium!

A+!
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

If you have any 2009s I recommend a horizontal. When I tasted at the Produttori in 2018 they 2009s were on a fast aging track. Really fast.
