WTN: Allegrini Amarone 2000

by Jay Labrador » Fri Jul 31, 2020 10:39 am

Lockdown Wine #44. It's been years since I've had an Amarone. Normally I would wait until we had some osso buco or some other heavy stew, but I thought this would have enough age on it to have settled down and not need some rich food. So it's leftover pizza to match with this. Very fragrant, lots of fruit and flowers on the nose. Delicious! Soft, ripe plum, tobacco, cocoa, roast meat. Not a particularly long wine, although the length is decent. Drank it a lot faster than I normally drink because it was so good, hence the rather short note. Maybe not quite at peak, but really close to it. Good stuff!
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

Love Amarone. Never know what to do with it.
