WTN: Paolo Scavino Barolo Carobric 2008

Lockdown Wine #41. Pretty dark and unevolved. Hint of the classic tar and roses, but mostly fragrant wood, sweet spices, and a bit of mint. Black fruit on the nose and palate. Blackberries. Fairly rich. The fruit is ripe but the palate turns dry pretty fast. Asphalt, tobacco, mocha. Tannins still strong. Acidity comes on the finish. Good length on this. Good, but not great. Not decanted, but drank it over 2 hours. Not much change in that time. Better with food. Definitely needs more time. Maybe leave alone for 3 to 5 years or so.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

2008 is a stern vintage. Quite old school. I have had a couple of Barbarescos that folks have opened, and they needed lots more time.
