1. Sineann GrunerVeltliner PearBlossomVnyd/ColumbiaGorge (13%; www.SineAnn.com) St.Paul/OR 2017: Med.light gold color; strong spicy/GV/white pepper quite floral/gardenias very attractive nose; fairly tart/tangy strong GV/white pepper/spicy/gardenias/floral slight chalky/mineral attractive flavor; very long fairly strong GV/white pepper/floral lightly tart finish; not a great Austrian expression of GV but quite a pleasant easy-drinking Gruner at a fair price. $22.00 (AV)

1. This is, of course, the wnry of PeterRosback. I generally like his wines quite a lot. This was a rather pretty/varietally-correct expression of GV but I was left wanting a bit more depth & intensity.

Needing more depth/intensity is how I feel about almost all U.S. Gruner.

Ditto, David. I had a Sineann long ago, and Tom's sounds like what I remember. Very decent wine, just not very Gruner-ish. Surprisingly, in fact VERY surprisingly, the best WA Gruner I've had was from Chateau Ste Michelle. Ryan recently posted about it, which caused me to ask a friend to fetch a few bottles for me. Since CSM wines tend to be lightly sweeter and oakier than most WA wines and I'm prejudiced against them because of that, I didn't expect to be as impressed as Ryan was. But it exceeded expectations handily.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
