Interesting read, thanks. It occurs to me that while I've never sought wine training, that I received ersatz certification about a dozen years ago when I went from occasional substitute/fill-in to A-List Regular at Bill Spohn's monthly lunches in Vancouver. Though the border closure keeps us apart now, it remains one of the honors of my wine life and I learned more from that group and the wines shared than I could have under any other circumstances.
