Did a little tasting the other day.
1990 Poggio Antico Brunello di Montalcino - this fully mature Brunello showed a uniform garnet colour when I poured a half ounce 'taster' to see if it needed more time to open up, but was surprisingly dark when we poured a full tasting aliquot. Excellent sangio nose with red fruit and hints of leather and tobacco. Lots of up front acidity in the mouth, but still decent fruit and good length with a pleasant sweetness toward the end. Drink up.
2006 La Rasina Brunello di Montalcino - cherry and tobacco nose, with some earthiness. Dark colour, and in the mouth still moderate tannin along with slightly ripe fruit, good flavour intensity, smooth and with good length. Hitting plateau now, I would think.
