2012 Poggio La Noce “Gigiò” Toscana IGT SuperTuscan Blend
Exceeded expectations as our last bottle was lackluster in flavor and thin in body, this certainly was neither. Medium-plus body with lithe acidity and that interesting raisin note I love about aging Italian wines. Only barely middle-aged at this point; should hold and improve from here.
Drank this one over two days:
NV Franck Pascal Champagne Reliance Brut Nature Champagne Blend
Disgorged 2015. Over 80% pinot meunier. Big bodied and assertive, perhaps a bit too much of both for me as it robs the wine of elegance as do the large bubbles and lack of mousse. Disappointing, especially for $60.
