To put the bottom line at the top, just like in a staff boring,
Not as good as it ought to be.
Dry Creek Vineyard Dry Creek Valley, Somers Ranch Zinfandel 2003
First whiff was pure zin. A bit hot. Odd, because it isn't all that alcoholic for these days. Half an hour later, either the aroma was gone or I was. It came about halfway back later. Good Zin in general, medium length, fairly tannic (could have waited a couple more years), good acid balance almost but not quite like Sangiovese. Yet somehow not a “together” wine. It was like a box of Tinkertoys. Good parts, but no structure.
Cost me $30 (ouch!) in a wine club shipment in March '06. 14.5% alcohol.
