WTN: Ch.Petrus '70...(short/boring)

by TomHill » Sun Jun 21, 2020 1:47 pm

Had this a month ago in another tasting from the BlairSwartz Cellar at Pig+Fig:
1. Ch.Petrus AC: Pomerol 1970: Dark slight murky/brownish color; quite complex very cedary/pencilly/old oak rather plummy/Merlot beautiful perfumed nose; lightly tart strong Merlot/plummy/slight floral fairly cedary/cigar box/pencilly slight dusty/earthy quite aromatic flavor w/ light gentle tannins; very long/lingering fairly cigar box/cedary/pencilly fairly strong plummy/Merlot slight earthy finish w/ light smooth tannins that goes on & on; a classic example of a fully mature Pomerol from a pedigree producer. $39.99/hlf
_______________
A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. I was expecting great things from this Petrus and it pretty much delivered. Still shows plenty of Merlot fruit and no signs of falling apart. A classic Petrus.
Stacey has one more hlf btl of this wine and is looking to sell it for a fair price. A wine Miles would be happy to drink.

I first had this wine in 2003, and from that tasting it remains one of the five greatest wines I have had in my life.
