I've always felt that if you love a wine, you should never waver in your preferences just because others sneer at them, or disapprove of your passion for that wine or grape variety. At the end of the day, if you know what you like you ARE a happy camper.
On another note - how common are the better Pinotages in your area? As I've said before, Vintages does a decent job of featuring Pinotage often. I am glad that the variety gets exposure, even if a few of the offerings are a bit too squeaky-clean/New Worldish for my tastes.
