I discovered today some forgotten Pegau at my off-site storage so I opened a 2001 Pegau Res. tonight and was very impressed. There was some nice sweet cherry but the dominant note was barnyard/sweaty horse with a slight medicinal note that shouted PEGAU! What a pleasure these wines turn into! abv of 13.5% This was typical Pegau and not to be confused with Beaucastel or other high-class CnP. My favorite from memory was the 1989 Beaucastel but this was almost as memorable in a different way.
