2012 Bedrock Wine Co. Evanghelho Vineyard Contra Costa County Red Blend
Graceful on the palate with soft boysenberry, star anise and clove spice, and corners rounded from the long cellar wait. Never intended to hold this, but it got lost in the cellar and was presumed drunk, as they say on CT. Happy find: could not have been a better match for duck carnitas tacos.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Gotta love the "missing/presumed drunk" option on CT. :)

The more I'm reading this thread about wines enjoyed, the better I feel about my CV19 purchase of a half-case of Bedrock. First purchase, seemed the right thing to do at the time.

You won't be sorry. Every wine I've had from them has been excellent.

Evangelho is one of my top 5 vineyards in California. Bedrock, Dirty & Rowdy, etc.

Love the wines.

Is Evangelho a field blend? I presume so--the label offered no info. Another comment: I was really surprised that CT did not have the '12 already in the data base, I had to add it to add it back to my inventory so I could then "drink and remove" it. Just '15 and '16 I think. I bought mine from a merchant here in WA so it was in the wider distribution system--I can't quite believe that my bottle was that rare.

Bedrock's Evangelho is a field blend. Dirty & Rowdy's is straight Mourvedre.

As for CT, there are about 450 bottles of 2012 Evangelho in the database. Not sure why you did not find it.

That's weird, and what I'd have expected. Better look into it.

It's in the system as the Heritage Wine. You are using a different designation in your note title.

This year, I was offered both "The Bedrock Heritage" which CT lists as a Zin blend, Sonoma Valley, and "Heritage Evangelho", which CT lists as a Zin blend, Contra Costa.

My understanding is that "The Bedrock Heritage" is the wine that made the WS top 100 for the 2016 vintage. FWIW. Just interesting, but I don't buy many wines because of WS unless they are what I consider to be a seek-out value.

My splurge bottle was The Bedrock Heritage. 2018.

CT can be confusing, especially when a vintner produces so many different wines/varietals/etc.

Your mileage may vary...I'm still learning how to fit my new purchases into the CT module.

Pat,

Bedrock and Evangelho are two different vineyards.

I understood that. 2 different counties. Sonoma has many appellations, including Sonoma Valley. Probably more than Contra Costa. I tend to research each offering in detail when considering as AVAs continue to evolve. Fun journey, plenty of learning along the way.

Sorry...wasn’t clear what point you were trying to make referencing the two bottlings.

Sonoma now has 20 (I think that’s correct) separate AVA designations.

No worries, David. It's all Bedrock, it's probably all good.

Cheers! :)
