Vandal Wine Cristal 2018 - Roussillon; 13% abv; mostly Macabeu; c.33€ (ouch!)
This was a lovely vin de soif. Made from Macabeu with a bit of Grenache blended in to make it essentially a red or very deep rosé coloured white wine. Lovely leesy aromas, slightly earthy, quite neutral fruit sensations; ever so slightly fizzy, again quite leesy with lovely blueberry-like fruit. Good acidity carries it to great lengths. Quite complex and interesting for vin de soif without losing any of the style's sheer fun. Lovely stuff. Silly price here, however.
