WTN: Mayr Grüner

Vorspannhof Mayr 2018 Grüner Veltliner. Mayr is in the Kremstal but this is an Austrian “Landwein,” so I suppose it’s made from grapes of mixed origin, and it’s exactly what you’d hope from a 1L bottle of Grüner with a flimsy screwcap: straightforward, equal parts crisp, herby, spicy, and oily, not complex but utterly correct and totally gluggable, and a great match with tonight’s pizza bianca with shaved asparagus, ramps, and lemon zest. $15 per liter? More, please.
cheers, Patchen

Yes, it's hard to think of one I've had which wasn't good QPR. I usually buy Hofer or Berger, but if in a non-geeky store and want dependable white for little money, I'll grab whatever liter GV they have.

The 2019 of this is on sale at GrapesTWC in N White Plains for $11 ($10 if 6 pack). How wrong can I go? :)

Our LWS has the 1 Litre Berger for $13. Have not tried Austrian anything yet. Did splurge on 2018 Carlisle, Sonoma County Sonoma Mountain as part of an allocation this year. Not yet opened....

Will keep the Berger in mind. Always looking for value, red or white or rose'.

I agree with Dale on the Berger--great value.

You really should try the Berger. It’s always very good.
