Lockdown Wine #27. It's been 9 years since I've had Müller-Catoir's Rieslaner. Too hot for a red today and this was handy so I thought I'd give it a go. Light gold with some green highlights. Sweet spice on the nose. Clove, just slightly overripe tropical fruits, mandarin oranges, peach and mango. Much the same on the palate. Sweet and rich, but by no means cloying as there is acidity to keep it fresh. There's a creamy aspect to the texture. Good length and a finish that has a bitter marmalade note at the very end. This isn't profound, but it's a great drink. I could've finished the bottle in one sitting without any trouble, but I poured off half to drink tomorrow. Age has certainly improved this wine. Lots of fun, outstanding, and a spectacular match with my banh mi. Good thing I have more.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
