  • 2017 Matthiasson Pinot Noir & Nebbiolo Devorah Vineyard - USA, California, Napa / Sonoma, Carneros (5/2/2020)
An unusual, and perhaps unique blend, of 92% Pinot Noir and 8% Nebbiolo, this has the bright, effusive fruit of Carneros Pinot, along with an extra boost in structure from the Nebbiolo. The Nebbiolo also brings a distinct floral note. It’s a fun wine, that speaks to the adventurous spirit at Matthiasson.

I've never seen the blend before, but it does make sense on a lot of levels. I also love Matthiasson wines so I'll have to track this one down! Thank you for posting the note.

Ooh! What Kasey said--makes sense on a lot of levels. Wonder if others are growing/using grapes like nebb in their pinots and not declaring them? It would be legal, of course. I know of one in the Santa Barbara region who buys a ton of petite sirah every year, but doesn't make petite sirah.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
