1. OjaiVnyd Syrah RollRanchVnud/Calif (13%) 1996: Very dark color w/ some browning; slight blackberry/boysenberry/ripe/Syrah bit peppery strong toasty/oak bit tired nose; very tangy/metallic fairly astringent/dried-out somewhat soft some ripe/blackberry/boysenberry/Syrah fairly tired flavor w/ light astringent/bitter tannins; still some Syrah fruit left but pretty tired & dried out on the palate.

OjaiVnyd Syrah StolpmanVnyd/SantaBarbaraCnty (14%) 1996: Med.color w/ some browning;some peppery/blackberry/Syrah fairly toasty/oak some earthy bit complex nose ; rather tart/metallic/tangy light peppery/ripe/Syrah/blackberry somewhat dried out/astringent/metallic fairly toasty/oak bit tired/dried out flavor w/ light smooth/bit drying tannins; still hanging on for dear life & rather dried out but still some interesting things therein.

3. OjaiVnyd Syrah BienNacidoVnyd/SantaBarbaraCnty (13%) 1996: Med.dark color w/ some browning; bit oxidized/tired slight black cherry/blackberry/BN/spicy/syrah rather toasty/pencilly/oak bit earthy/dusty bit complex nose; lightly tart rather metallic/dried out/tired light black cherry/blackberry/Syrah rather toasty/Fr.oak flavor w/ modest dried-out/astringent tannins; some interesting things in the nose but pretty tired on the palate.

1. I was somewhat disappointed that these three were so dead & tired. The Stolpman was the best of a sorry lot. The noses were interesting if on the tired side, but all three were pretty dead on the palate.
