Actually, not so pretty. I hung on to my last bottle of 1998 Grand Puy Lacoste, which was doing so fine in 2018, only to be disappointed last night. Opened to compliment roast leg of lamb (sous vide with rosemary and cloves), which on paper would be a classic pairing, but this bottle showed no fruit and didn't quite rise to the occasion. We opened it an hour or so before dinner and drank it over two hours, and there was no positive evolution.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov
