WTN: Familiar

Dirty and Rowdy 2019 Mourvedre Familiar.

Arrived this past Monday. After a few minutes in the glass, some funky-metallic aromas blew off, revealing a delicious iteration of this wine, crunchy-chewy aromatic purple fruit with more depth than you’d think its lithe frame could carry. There are some sharp angles in here at the moment but nothing to prevent enjoyment, and it’ll be fun to watch these round off a little with time. Excellent.
cheers, Patchen

Sounds good. The Familiar has never been my thing, but it’s a very well made wine.

Hardy has been doing a lot of Zoom tastings.

Ooh, that gets my attention! Crunchy/aromatic/lithe all remind me of the first mourvedre I had from Joseph Swan. Absolutely loved it and bought a case. I probably haven't since encountered a mourvedre one would call either lithe or crunchy.

That describes most of Hardy's stuff.

I've been struck by the precision, both aromatically and flavor-wise, that Hardy's been able to capture in the wines of his I've tried. I like them quite a bit!
I don't know just how I'm supposed to play this scene, but I ain't afraid to learn...
