After a couple nights going to city, happy to be home Wednesday, walked into house to find smell of guanciale cooking. Dinner was bucatini all’ amatriciana, with cooked greens and a salad with marinated mushrooms. Wine was the 2018 Produttori del Barbaresco Langhe Nebbiolo. I think a warm year, but while the fruit seemed ripe and round, there was plenty of acidity, as well as noticable tannin (but not enough to make hard to drink). Red cherry and strawberry, a little spice, a bit of rose petal. Nice for $20. B
Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C
drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice.Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.
