WTN: Chateau Leoville Barton 2007

by Jay Labrador » Mon Apr 20, 2020 8:14 am

Lockdown wine #16. Very dark, young, opaque. Looks like a 5 year old wine. Lactic, cream, a little wood, licorice, black fruit. Red fruit - raspberry and sour cherry on the palate. Dry, has some weight to it. Not really yielding a lot. Closed. Tannins are there but not really a problem. Good length but ends on a bitter note. Needs time in bottle to develop, or a longer decant than the 1 hour I gave it. For now, maybe leave alone for 2 years or so.

Paired with an excellent Lamb Navarin Provençal leftover from Saturday's takeout dinner.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.

I guess I am not shocked that it was rather closed down. I am rather lean on 2007s, but there are a couple of Bartons downstairs. Thanks for the heads up.
