We had these two new arrivals w/ Roman's Borscht last night:
1. Carlisle PetiteSirah PalisadesVnyd/NapaVlly (15.4%; 135 cs; Hrvstd: Sept 26; 36% new Fr.oak; U/U) 2018: Very dark purple/black color; bit alcoholic intense boysenberry/ripe/blackberry/chocolaty/licorice/PS/slight peppery some toasty/oak slight earthy huge fruit nose; soft very rich/lush/mouthfilling intense PS/boysenberry/ripe/blackberry/bit peppery licorice/chocolaty some toasty/Fr.oak light earthy/dusty/OV bit alcoholic flavor w/ ample soft/ripe tannins; very long/lingering huge fruit/blackberry/boysenberry/PS/licorice modest toasty/Fr.oak finish w/ some soft/ripe tannins; huge/ripe PS fruit but a bit lacking in structure; ample tannins but still on the drinkable side because of the soft tannins; needs 3-6 yrs; reminds some of the JacobFranklin PS's. $44.00

2. Once&Future PetiteSirah PalisadesVnyd/Calistoga/NapaVlly (14.6%; 45 yr old vines; Pckd: 9/25; 30% new Fr.oak; 191 cs; pH: 3.41, TA: 0.69 gm/100 ml; Bttld Nov 2019; Growers: Felicia Woytak & Steve Rasmussen) 2018: Black color; very strong blackberry/licorice/PS/some spicy strong toasty/Fr.oak rather dusty/OV some complex classic old-time Ravenswood nose; lightly tart intense blackberry/PS/rather peppery/spicy/some licorice strong toasty/Fr.oak quite dusty/OV structured bit complex flavor w/ ample rather hard/ripe tannins; very long/lingering intense blackberry/PS/spicy/peppery/licorice strong toasty/Fr.oak rather dusty/OV some complex structured finish w/ ample hard tannins; needs 4-10 yrs; lots more Fr.oak & a bit less ripe PS fruit; reminds some of the classic Ridge YorkCreek PS '71, a legend in its time; a very classic old-timey Ravenswood PS. $55.00

A wee BloodyPulpit:
1. Both of the ripe PS's I liked quite a bit. BGoth should make good old-bones. The Ravenswood had a bit more structure than the Carlisle, which had plenty of soft tannins.
