1. This is a wine Grayson picked up in a wine shop up in the FL area a yr or so ago. Knowing I'm interested in these obscure varieties, he wanted me to try it.
Teroldego is one of my favorite varieties from Trentino/AltoAdige. When it comes to Teroldego, Elisabetta Foradori is the acknowledged master. Farmed BioDynamic and frmtd/aged in clay Tinajas from JosePadilla (the master of amphorae, her wines, across the board, are outstanding.
I was pretty impressed with this RedTail Teroldego. The earthy/loamy character expressed more Trentino Teroldego than the Calif versions. This was actually pretty close to the basic Teroldego of Elisabetta.
JimClendenen's niece, Marisa, makes Teroldego under the Bevela/Matela label at his AuBonClimant wnry that is quite good. A variety they should be planting all up & down the Coast of Calif.
