WTN: Marques de Murrieta Castillo Ygay GR Especial 2005

Lockdown wine #12. My favorite Spanish producer; actually one of my favorite wines of all time. The full name is Marques de Murrieta Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2005

Inky, opaque purple. No browning at all. Roasted meat, cassis, plum, black fruits, resin. The palate has strong black olive, cocoa, sweet spices, crunchy ripe black fruits. Plum, black berries and cherries. All fruit now. Very young and primary but such a joy to drink. Very easy, approachable, and juicy although it is a bit dense. Soft tannins. Surprised to see 14% alcohol but the wine is so beautifully balanced you don't notice it at all. Great length. Long life ahead for this but so enjoyable at this stage. Brilliant, complex, and outstanding.

Served with roast beef for Easter dinner.
Three be the things I shall never attain:
Envy, content, and sufficient champagne.
