Lockdown wine #11. To give the full name - Marchesi de' Frescobaldi Chianti Rùfina Castello di Nipozzano Montesodi 2001.
Not a bad color for a wine nearly 20 years old. Still opaque, violet, touch of brick on the edge. Dried herbs, mint, boiled sweets, black berries. Juicy, sweet, ripe fruit, roasted meat, black berries, cherry. Still has a bit of tannin, good acidity to balance the ripeness of the fruit. Fairly complex. Medium length. Could probably go on for a few more years without too much trouble, but very nice now, especially if you value fruit. Excellent.
With mushroom risotto and lughanighe sausage.
