This is a monopole owned by the Domaine de la Pousse d'Or. This is a classic fully mature red Burgundy. Translucent brick-red, opulent fully mature pinot noir aroma and balanced oak, complex flavors of berries and cherries with some smoky flourishes, long finish. My only quibble--and it's a small one--is that the acidity sticks out a bit. Perhaps that's a sign that this wine is nearing the end of its optimal drinking plateau. This is the sort of wine experience that keeps us crawling across the Burgundy minefield. Alas, this was my last bottle. Double Curly Moe (due to the acidity).

Not bad. Certainly seems like a wine that would be a pleasure to drink right now. And remind us that these pleasures take time to develop!
